Conservation Framing

Conservation Framing ensures that your valuable textiles, artwork and photos remain in excellent condition for generations to come.

Conservation Framing is a specialized technique used to preserve and protect valuable or delicate pieces, such as historical clothing, tapestries, or artwork. It involves using high-quality materials and techniques that are reversible and minimise the risk of damage from factors like light, humidity and handling.
With attention to detail and a passion for framing, we’ll help you create a beautiful and enduring piece.

Key features of Conservation Framing

  • Acid-free materials: Using materials that are free from acids helps to prevent chemical deterioration.
  • UV protection: Glass or acrylic with UV protection filters out harmful sunlight that can cause fading.
  • Proper mounting: Textiles are carefully mounted using archival adhesives to avoid damaging the fabric.
  • Climate control: The framed textile should be displayed in a controlled environment with appropriate humidity and temperature levels.

Some of our past work

At our company, we pride ourselves on creating frames that not only look amazing but also ensure its long-lasting protection and preservation. Our approach revolves around the 3 P’s: Presentation, Protection, and Preservation.

Presentation
Every frame we design starts with one goal in mind: presenting your artwork in the best possible way. We carefully consider the colors, style and subject matter of the piece, choosing framing materials and matting that will complement and highlight its unique qualities. Beyond the artwork itself, we also take into account where it will be displayed. Whether it’s a living room, office, or gallery, this helps to ensure the frame fits seamlessly within its surroundings.
Protection
The structural integrity of the frame is crucial. We evaluate the artwork type, size and weight of each piece to ensure the frame is strong enough to provide support. For large and heavier items, thicker frames may be needed for stability. Glass may be used to protect delicate materials like paper, while spacers and mounts are added to prevent the artwork from touching the glass. Our focus is to create a sturdy, protective frame that safeguards it’s contents while enhancing its presentation.
Preservation
The materials we use are crucial for the long-term care of your piece. We select archival-quality Materials, adhesives, tapes, and backing to ensure your artwork or memorabilia remains in its original condition for years to come. Specialised UV glass is also key, as it helps protect the colours and prevents fading from light exposure. Our team pays close attention to detail, ensuring that every element of the framing process contributes to the preservation of your item, keeping it looking its best for future generations.
With our expert framing services, you can trust that we will bring out the best in your piece while providing the utmost protection and preservation.
